Cheltenham
to Winchcombe
Cheltenham
is a beautiful regency town that is more conducive to walking around than
driving around.
 |
If
you follow the A435 out of town you will pass the beautiful Pittville
Pump Rooms, built in the 1830's and encomposed with columns. Here
you may sample the famous spa waters of cheltenham. |
 |
Turn
right at the Racecourse (home of the National Hunt and The Cheltenham
Gold Cup) roundabout and head towards Prestbury. |
 |
 |
The
village of Prestbury lies on the outskirts of Cheltenham and is famous
for being one of Britains most haunted villages. One of the ghosts
that has been seen is the 'Headless Horseman' who gallops down 'Shaw
Green Lane' so beware!................... .....................

The
B4632 out of Prestbury passes below the spectacular limestone outcrop
on Cleeve Hill - the highest point in the Cotswolds. A layby off
the road below the escarpment provides a wonderful view across the
Severn Vale and into Wales.
