Cirencester
was once a Roman town named Corinium and was second only to Londinium.
There has been a market on the same site (Market Place, town centre) for
300 years. Historical remains are to be found all over Cirencester, for
example the Church of St. John the Baptist (Market Place), Roman amphitheatre
(adjacent to hospital) and a 30 yard stretch of Roman wall within the
town.

| The
corinium museum can be found in Park St. (town centre). The museum consisits of many Roman artifacts, mosiacs and reconstructions of Roman/Britain life scenes (full size). A wonderful experience which will take a good two and a half hours to walk through. |
